Carrie Underwood To Perform On 2006 'American Idol' Finale

NASHVILLE, TN (American Idol) – 2005 American Idol winner Carrie Underwood will perform her new single 'Don't Forget To Remember Me' during the 2006 'American Idol' finale show on Wednesday, May 24. Underwood, who will make her debut appearance on the Academy of Country Music Awards the night before, will fly into Los Angeles from Vegas for the American Idol appearance.
In the year since her win, Underwood has sold over 3 million copies of her debut album SOME HEARTS, placed her first single 'Jesus, Take The Wheel' at No 1 for six weeks and has a current top 15 hit with new single 'Don't Forget To Remember Me.' Also among her accolades are a Teen Choice Award, 3 Billboard Awards, 2 CMT Music Awards, a Gospel Music Association Award and four nominations at this year's ACM Awards- Single of the Year and Song of The Year for 'Jesus, Take The Wheel,' and New Female and Female of the Year. The ACM Awards airs May 23 on CBS.



In other Underwood news, she was also named 'Oklahoman of The Year' and recently graduated from Northeastern State University Magna Cum Laude with a degree in mass communications with an emphasis in journalism.

American Idol Carrie Underwood to appear

Tickets for a summer performance by 2005 "American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood will go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, May 19.

Underwood will perform at the 6,000-seat Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury at 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 13. Tickets ($35) will be available at the civic center box office at 500 Glenn Ave., as well as online.

The burgeoning country music star and reality-TV veteran is touring nationally through October.



Underwood, who swept away audiences and judges alike during last year's "Idol" contest, has risen to the top of the country charts with her first single, "Jesus Take the Wheel." Followup singles "Don't Forget to Remember Me" and "Some Hearts" have followed suit; her debut album, "Some Hearts," has sold approximately three million copies. The album reportedly attained triple-platinum status quicker than any other debut country album in history.

In addition, the recent Northeastern State University graduate walked away from the recent Country Music Television Awards ceremony with two trophies, Breakthrough Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year, and also received four Academy of Country Music Awards nods including Song of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year.

The 2006 "American Idol" winner will be announced during the show's season finale on Fox on Tuesday, May 23, which will also feature a performance by Daniel "Had a Bad Day" Powter.

Country vocalists from another reality TV competition will appear locally at another pair of concerts. "Nashville Star" winner Miranda Lambert will perform at the Bottle & Cork nightclub in Dewey Beach on Aug. 27. Two "Nashville Star" finalists, Melanie Torres and Jared Ashley, will play a double-bill concert at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center on June 2 as part of the Rehoboth Beach Country & Blues Festival.

Carrie Underwood Earns College Degree


Nashville, TN (Carrie Underwood Official Website) - Carrie Underwood, the 2005 American Idol winner whose debut album Some Hearts has been certified Triple-Platinum for record sales of over 3 million units, took home another trophy this past weekend, Saturday, May 6- her college diploma. Underwood graduated Magna Cum Laude with high honors and received her degree in mass communications with an emphasis in journalism from Northeastern State University.
Underwood, who attended NSU in Tahlequah, Oklahoma before leaving school to participate on American Idol, had only one semester left to finish her degree. In the time since her reality show win and the launch of a tremendously successful country music career, Underwood managed to fulfill her college requirements to obtain her diploma and will walk with her graduating class during the ceremony held this past Saturday at the college stadium in Tahlequah.

Another honor recently bestowed to Underwood, was her induction to the NSU Hall of Fame on April 28.
